A useful first Super Auto Pets team has abilities that can actually work together. Before buying another appealing animal, decide what your current team is missing: a stronger fighter, a reliable trigger, or a pet that benefits from something the team already does.

Start in Arena with a familiar pack

Team Wood Games describes Arena as asynchronous multiplayer without turn timers. Versus is synchronous and emphasizes quicker decisions. Arena therefore gives you room to read unfamiliar abilities before ending a turn. These mode descriptions come from the official Steam page.

A standard pack offers a fixed starting pool, while weekly packs change the available selection and custom packs let you assemble a pool. Learn one familiar pool first if you want to recognize useful purchases more quickly. A combination from a video is only relevant when its pets are available in your selected pack.

Separate shopping decisions from the automatic battle

During the shop phase you can buy pets and food, rearrange the team, and roll for a new selection. Combat then resolves automatically. The community-maintained basics reference documents this sequence and duplicate merging; current in-game descriptions remain the best check after balance updates.

Before spending, read the ability’s trigger and target. Does it happen when something is bought, when battle starts, or when a pet faints? Then identify which current teammate supplies that event. Two strong descriptions do not form a useful combination if neither activates the other.

Combine duplicates with a purpose

Copies of the same pet can be merged to gain experience and eventually improve its ability through leveling. Buying a duplicate onto a matching teammate is one way to do this. Combining is different from keeping two separate bodies on the team.

Before merging, compare the benefit of progressing that ability with the immediate value of the separate pet. Keep the decision tied to your team: a level increase is attractive when its improved effect has a useful recipient or trigger. Read the resulting ability rather than assuming every pet scales in the same way.

Arrange pets around the words in their abilities

Check whether an effect names the pet ahead, behind, a random friend, or another specific target. Positioning should follow that wording. If an ability needs a teammate to survive long enough to act, consider whether the current order supports that plan.

After a battle, trace the first important failure. Was the intended recipient already gone? Did a trigger never happen? Did the team have plenty of support but no effective fighter? This review produces a concrete next purchase or rearrangement instead of an aimless search for rarer pets.

Use rolls to answer a specific need

Before rolling, name what would improve the team. Stop and reassess if the shop offers a different useful direction. Repeatedly chasing one exact animal can spend the turn without making the team better.

Pet values, pack contents and balance change. Use the pet reference to clarify a mechanic, then check the live tooltip before committing your gold.
